Clerk’s update By Santi Gil, Clerk to Lindfield Rural Parish Council

Lindfield Village Day is soon with us again on Saturday 30th May 2026, starting with the firing of the anvil at midday. This is a great family afternoon out, with many fun things to do to keep the whole family engaged. We really hope you have time to come and visit us at our stand, where you can speak to councillors, Sarah and myself (with Lissie the rough collie and Alfie the bearded collie!). As always, we will having a big cuddly toy to give away on a prize draw (entrants must be 16 years of age or younger). We always have a few sweets for our young residents and some tempting dog biscuits for your fourlegged friends!! On a more serious note you can chat to us about issues in the area and projects we are looking at. It is always nice to see our residents and assist in any way we can, so please come and say hello.

Flower Show

Cllr Louise Hawes stated that: “LRPC were pleased to support the recent Scaynes Hill flower show with a donation towards their costs. There were a good number of entries in a variety of classes from floral art and baking to the scarecrow competition. We are happy to support community engagement wherever possible, as these events help bond community spirit. LRPC also recently gave a donation to St Augustine’s Church fundraiser to support their need for a new piano.”

Burial Ground

The Walstead Burial Ground, remembrance garden has had a few issues recently with heavy machinery used for grave digging causing some rutting, we will be addressing this matter in due course. We are also extending the number of plots. This may involve the temporary closing of one of the three entrances to reseed the grass. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this.
