Tony Whitbread, ecologist, conservationist and Knepp Wildland Foundation trustee, will give a talk on ‘Our Better Nature’ followed by a deep dive into discussions at The Bent Arms, on 18th November from 7-9pm.
We are all seeing the signs of a changing world. This summer has been one of the hottest on record and research shows that it is set to become more extreme each coming year. The effects of climate change reach far beyond the weather. The People’s Emergency Briefing film sets these out well, raising awareness of this poly crisis affecting our food, health, nature, energy, security and economics.
Tony will give us an overview of the state of our environment, and highlight how, when we tap into our better nature, we work together and can make a real difference to our lives and others.
We’ll hear about tipping points and planetary boundaries - the systems that keep earth stable - and the huge strain they are under.
Although we have no control over global problems, we can make considerable changes to our lives by what we do in our community. We will discuss the importance of local collaboration and how we can become more resilient and adaptable to change. By considering hopeful, nature-based solutions, we empower individuals and groups to become active participants in building climate-resilient, healthier communities.
The future is full of potential. We can restore a healthy ecosystem by changing human attitudes, habits and activities. This will be discussed in more detail with a chance to contribute your thoughts and experiences over a drink.
This event is hosted by Fairer World Lindfield who have connected with Tony for many years. Book a seat now. This event will be one you won’t want to miss!
